Katsumi Arai is Director-General of the Product Safety Technology Center at the National Institute of Technology and Evaluation (NITE). He supervises product safety activities, mainly accident analysis and risk assessment, and he is responsible for product safety policy at NITE.  Since 2004 he has been working in the product safety field. He launched international activities on product safety at NITE in 2005 and is still in charge of them. He also introduced risk assessment techniques into NITE under control with professional help.
